Wow… insyaAllah this year can be a memorial year to Palembang City, coz Palembang launch their tourism program this year, with the slogan “Visit Musi 2008″.
Yes, Palembang is my beloved city. I was born and growth there, and very proudly became a Palembangnesse. In the history, Palembang (the capital city of South Sumatra) is a city river, because there is nine river in South Sumatera, and the biggest and famous one is Musi River with a legendary bridge: Ampera Bridge (known as one of Palembang symbol).
What you can get when you visit Palembang ?

I can’t say it with words, maybe there is not too much interesting places in Palembang (honestly), but you can feel a different experience when you visit Palembang, yes because Palembang is “The Venice of the East” (by Peter J.M. Nas, Published in Dutch in Orion, jrg.1, no. 4, 1984). WoW…
Musi River is the main area for this program, each month there will be at least two or three program to be launched. Like: Decorated Boat Competition, International Fishing Tournament, International Dragon Boat Race, and many more.
Beside the scheduled attraction above, you can gain experience to feel and see the beautifulness of Musi River by using boat or mini cruiser (cruiser boat). There is Pulau Kemaro, located in the middle of Musi River. Pulao Kemaro (Buddhist Vihara) visited by thousand of people (local and foreigner) when they celebrate Cap Go Me. And if you hungry, you must visit ‘Waroeng Legenda’ (is a Floating Restaurant), and you can taste Palembang tradisional food with fantastic surrounding (You can see fisherman working, tradional house, children swimming, hear and smell the river, etc)
Ok… thats the story for the River. And now back to mainland. If I not mistaken, Palembang will be (or is) a Metropolitan City. So don’t worry about the services start from International Airport, Five Star hotel, Modern and traditional Shopping Complex, restaurant, etc.
The Unique from Palembang
1. Traditional food
There is many traditional food in Palembang. The famous one is ‘Pempek’.

2. Traditional clothes
Yup. Palembang has Songket as they traditional clothes. Maybe some of you see songket in other country but believe me, the original (came from) is from Palembang (My sister has a thesis/research in songket 
).
And if you have more time, I invite you to Pagar Alam, Ranau Lake, and many more. That more to nature adventure like river adventure, tea garden, and the beautiful open air.
So, let’s we go to Palembang.
